How it connects

How battery storage connects to a site

Storage changes how a site's solar, grid connection, switchgear, gensets, chargers and software behave, so we design them together.

The connections around the battery

  1. Solar & wind

    HYBRID PCS · TIME-SHIFT

Store midday solar for use after sunset. Existing plants can be retrofitted.

  2. Grid & DISCOM

    PEAK SHAVING · TOD TARIFFS

Stay inside contract demand and move consumption out of peak tariff windows.

  3. Generator sets

    HYBRID CONTROL · FEWER STARTS

The battery covers short outages and light loads, so the genset starts less often.

  4. EV charging

    DC FAST · 2W/3W · FLEET AC

A battery buffers fast chargers so they can share a smaller grid connection.

  5. Site loads

    CRITICAL BACKUP · POWER QUALITY

Keep critical loads running through outages and dips, where the system is designed and approved to island.

  6. Monitoring & EMS

    ENERGY 107 · SOC · ALARMS

Energy 107 tracks charge, temperature and alarms, runs the schedule and produces the reports.

01 · Solar & wind

Solar and wind with storage

Storage moves midday solar into the peak tariff windows. A CEA advisory asks solar projects to co-locate storage of at least 10% of installed capacity, for at least 2 hours.

Rooftop solar, a battery cabinet and wind turbines. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Storage retrofits for existing solar (AC-coupled)
  • New hybrid solar plants (DC-coupled)
  • Storage for repowered and hybrid wind sites

02 · Grid & tariffs

Grid connection and tariffs

A behind-the-meter battery is judged against your tariff: time-of-day windows, 15-minute demand charges and power-factor limits.

A battery serving the peaks above the contract limit. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Tariff and 15-minute load analysis
  • Contract-demand review and applications
  • DISCOM and Electrical Inspectorate liaison

03 · Switchgear & protection

Transformers, switchgear and metering

Storage and fast chargers change what transformers, panels, protection relays and meters must handle.

A transformer, switchgear and a smart meter. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Single-line diagram and load checks
  • Protection study and relay coordination
  • Transformer, panel and meter supply and installation

How we handle the interfaces

04 · Generator sets

Generator sets with storage

A battery covers short outages and light loads, so the diesel or gas genset starts less often and runs at a healthier load.

A genset and a battery cabinet under one control. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Genset log, fuel and loading audit
  • Hybrid control: battery first, genset assist
  • ATS, changeover and synchronising-panel rework

05 · EV charging

Battery-buffered EV charging

A battery absorbs the peaks of fast chargers, so they can run on a smaller grid connection.

A battery cabinet feeding a DC fast charger. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Charging site design and EPC
  • Battery-buffered fast charging
  • Charger O&M, AMC, audits and upgrades

06 · Critical loads

Critical loads and power quality

Batteries respond in milliseconds, so critical loads ride through dips and outages, where the system is designed and approved to island.

A hospital with a genset and a battery cabinet. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • UPS + BESS architecture
  • Islanding, transfer and load-shedding design
  • Power-quality study: dips, harmonics, flicker, power factor

Use case: keep critical loads running

07 · Monitoring & EMS

Monitoring and energy management

Energy 107, our monitoring and energy-management layer, brings battery, solar, genset, meter and charger data into one view and runs the schedule.

We report energy and emissions data; we do not promise carbon credits or "net zero".

What we do

  • Dispatch schedules and demand limits
  • Monthly performance and M&V reports
  • Energy data for ESG reporting

08 · Safety & compliance

Safety and compliance

From 1 April 2027, the CEA's battery-storage safety chapter applies to systems connected above 650 V, including an independent third-party fire-safety audit.

We prepare you for the independent fire-safety audit. We do not act as the auditor.

A battery container, a checklist and a fire-service helmet. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • CEA 2027 readiness reviews for new and existing BESS
  • Hazard review and emergency response plans
  • Operator and staff training

09 · O&M

O&M and AMCs

One maintenance contract across battery, chargers, solar and controls, so one team looks after the whole site.

What we do

  • Remote monitoring and alarm response
  • Preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Monthly reports and compliance records

10 · Second life & recycling

Second life and recycling

Under the Battery Waste Management Rules 2022, producers of storage batteries carry extended producer responsibility for collection and recycling, and waste batteries can't be landfilled or incinerated.

Second life isn't always right. We'll tell you when recycling is the better answer.

A used pack goes to second life or a registered recycler. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • End-of-life and take-back plans in contracts
  • State-of-health testing: second life or recycling
  • Coordination with registered recyclers and refurbishers

11 · Microgrids

Solar, storage and genset microgrids

Harbours, estates, telecom sites and islands often run on diesel. Solar, storage and the genset under one controller can cut that fuel use.

A coastal settlement on solar, storage and a small genset. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Microgrid design with grid-forming PCS
  • Genset integration and fuel planning
  • Remote monitoring with local service

Use case: power where the grid is thin

12 · Ways to pay

Buy, lease or pay monthly

Since September 2025, consumers may own, lease or operate energy storage, so service models sit alongside outright purchase.

Own it, lease it, or pay for a service. Schematic, not to scale.

What we do

  • Capex EPC
  • Storage-as-a-service
  • BOO / BOOT
  • Shared savings
